Ganbare Battle
Goemon has had his face in many games, from action and RPG, to even board games and racers. But the one genre Goemon has yet to appear on to this date is the fighter. Despite his illustrious history, Goemon has yet to once appear in a one on one fighting game to date. This is surprising considering that Konami has made it's fair share of fighting game titles. Konami even went as far as inserting Pastel and Madoka of Twinbee fame into a fighter before Goemon.

With the cross-over rage that has happened over the years producing series such as Marvel vs Capcom, Super Smash Brothers, Fighters MegaMix, and the Konami affliated World Fighters, It was about high time we saw Goemon get into the fighting game spot light. But since I have absolutely no power in swaying Konami's research and develpment team, I figure I take matters into my own hands and do it myself.

.....This of course, is a crasy solution. Don't you need skilled programers and designers? How about graphic artists? Most companies take years to produce a decent fighting game, and they have a paid staff to work on games around the clock. I'd be silly to think One person could possibly acomplish this task by themself....

Or does it?

I present the fighting game engine, Mugen. This software by Elecbyte is in fact a facilitator of Home Brew fighting games. Utilzing it's fairly versitile system, it takes most of the difficulty of programing out the window. The Information Age is indeed a blessed time. Now with the hardest part of the programing settled, it looks like I'm already on my path of etching Goemon into a fighting game!

Now it came time for the graphics. Goemon has stared in a wide number of games, so it was in theory possible to simply rip the sprites off of a title and start programing. I wasn't pleased with such a proposition though, as that would limit the creativity of the moves I could program. Furthermore, most sprites of Goemon and Gang are rather small, as they were designed for platforming action. So because of these reason, I turned to myself to fashion my own sprites for the project.
Fortunate for me, I have a bit of background in the field of amature sprite graphics. For the longest of time, sprite graphics have been a hobby of mine, as I've drawn quite an army of sprites before. With that I started drawing up some animation frames:

The current progress of this project is still in it's early stages. I've yet completely worked out the moves list for the characters, although I have already started drawing up the sprites for the game. The sprites are about the only bit of progress of this project. Hopefully I'll be able to update this page soon as I make more headway on this project.
